Şişli Deputy Mayor Onur Öksel Testified in Money Counting Footage Investigation
A new development has occurred in the investigation into the money counting footage allegedly taken at the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Provincial Headquarters. Şişli Deputy Mayor Onur Öksel testified today as part of the ongoing investigation. His statement lasted approximately 1 hour.
Öksel, who arrived at the Istanbul Palace of Justice courthouse at 10:00, provided his testimony to the authorities for about an hour. After his statement, Öksel did not make any additional comments.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation after images surfaced on social media showing Fatih Keleş counting stacks of money at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Directorate. The investigation aims to uncover the facts related to the shared images and determine if any criminal activities took place.
As part of the investigation, statements were taken from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club President Fatih Keleş, former CHP Istanbul Provincial Vice President Özgür Nas, and former CHP Istanbul Provincial Directorate Press Advisor Can Poyraz as suspects. Keleş claimed that the money received was related to the sale of the CHP Istanbul provincial building through lawyer Ali Rıza Braka. Statements from Braka and İmamoğlu Construction Company’s General Manager Tuncay Yılmaz have also been obtained as part of the investigation.
Braka mentioned Canan Kaftancıoğlu, the former Provincial President at the time, in his statement at the prosecutor’s office. He stated that a sales contract was signed with her at the Beyoğlu 3rd Notary Public on November 6, 2019. Kaftancıoğlu has been summoned to testify as a suspect in the case.
The investigation into the money counting footage at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters continues as more statements and evidence are being gathered to determine the extent of any potential criminal activities.
