Fake Diploma Scandal Unveiled at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University
A recent investigation conducted at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTU) has unveiled a scandal involving fake diplomas. One individual, identified as SK, was arrested in connection to the case and brought to court in Güzelyurt. The charge against SK is “incitement to issue a fake document”, and the court has ordered the suspect to be detained in police custody for 3 days for further investigation.
During the court proceedings, Ali Erdelhun, the Investigation Officer at the Police Financial Crimes Branch, revealed that the investigation was initiated following a complaint received about the university. It was found that the suspect was falsely enrolled in the school system and obtained a diploma in the business management doctoral program through fraudulent means. The suspect graduated on a date earlier than expected, raising suspicions about the validity of the diploma.
Further investigations showed that the suspect had not attended any classes and had discrepancies in the number of courses completed compared to the official records. The Investigation Officer mentioned that statements from several individuals have been taken, and more will be interviewed to gather more evidence in the case.
The suspect, in a voluntary statement, implicated another individual named Serdal Gündüz in the fraudulent activities, claiming that they worked together to obtain the fake diploma. The investigation is ongoing, with plans to determine if the diploma has been circulated and confirm the authenticity of the suspect’s claims.
The court, presided over by Judge Gülay Süleymanoğlu Uğur, has decided to keep the suspect in police custody for 3 days to facilitate further investigation into the fake diploma scandal at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University. The case highlights the importance of upholding academic integrity and cracking down on fraudulent practices in educational institutions.
