
Snowfall Continues in Istanbul: This Week’s Forecast

The Latest Weather Forecast: Snow and Rain Expected in Many Areas of Turkey
According to the latest evaluations, the weather across Turkey is expected to be partly to very cloudy. The eastern parts of Marmara, Central Anatolia (excluding Kayseri and Niğde), Western and Central Black Sea, Eastern Black Sea coasts, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia (excluding Kars and Ardahan), Kütahya, Manisa, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Hatay, Gümüşhane surroundings, Çanakkale, Kırklareli, and the eastern parts of Tekirdağ and the western parts of Mersin will experience intermittent rain.
In some areas, precipitation is expected to be rain, especially in the Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts and Mediterranean coastal areas, sleet and snow in the north of Marmara, and pure snow in the inner parts. The weather is expected to be strong, especially in the northern parts of Istanbul, the east of Kırklareli and Tekirdağ, and the north of Kocaeli.
The General Directorate of Meteorology also released information about temperatures, stating that they will remain 1-3 degrees below seasonal norms in the north and inner regions, and around seasonal norms in other places.
In Istanbul, snowfall has already begun in some areas, such as Büyükçekmece, Beylikdüzü, and Başakşehir. The snowfall has also created postcard-like scenes in the Aydos forest, turning the trees and roofs white.
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a yellow code warning for Istanbul today and tomorrow. Snowfall is expected to continue, especially at higher altitudes, and residents are advised to be cautious.
Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen, a meteorology advisor for CNN TÜRK, mentioned that snowfall and sleet will continue in many regions. Istanbul, Kocaeli, and the north of Marmara are expected to experience strong winds from the north. The temperature in Istanbul is expected to be around 4°C, and drivers are advised to use winter tires if they need to travel in these conditions.
