Snowfall Forces Closure of Malatya-Kayseri Road
Severe weather conditions in Darende and Akçadağ districts have caused major disruptions in transportation. The high levels of snowfall have led to road closures and stranded vehicles, particularly in the Karahan, Kozluca, and Çayırdüzü areas at an altitude of 1800 meters. Rescue teams are working tirelessly to clear the roads and assist stranded trucks and cars, with the D-300 road currently blocked off to traffic.
Local traffic authorities in Darende have implemented controlled measures at the district entrance to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers. Vehicles are being redirected to dormitories and municipal social facilities, where municipal teams are providing warm soup and tea to those waiting for the roads to reopen.
In response to the road closures, the District Governor’s Office has accommodated nearly 100 individuals in dormitories and provided them with housing and meals. Efforts are ongoing to improve weather conditions and clear the roads for resumed traffic flow.
