SONAR accurately predicts close 1st round vote rate and offers 2nd round prediction for Presidential elections
The unofficial results of Turkey’s presidential and parliamentary elections have been announced, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan receiving 49.6% of the vote compared to 44.6% for his main challenger, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Although results have not been finalised, it appears Erdogan fell short of the 50% threshold needed to secure an outright victory. The fate of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which could determine the balance of power in parliament, was also uncertain after it passed the 10% threshold required to enter parliament. In the parliamentary elections, Erdogan’s AK Party secured 42.4% of the vote and Kılıçdaroğlu’s CHP won 22.6%, while the MHP secured 11.2% and the HDP won 11.7%.
