Southern Cyprus to send firefighting plane to aid in putting out fires, confirms President Tatar

President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has announced that an aircraft from the Greek Cypriot Administration will be aiding in the response to the fire that broke out in the southern part of Yeşilırmak village. The president praised the efforts of the various units of the state, including the Forestry Department, the fire brigade, and the Civil Defense Organization teams, in managing the blaze. Despite the wind’s resistance, the president remains optimistic that the fire can be brought under control with interventions from the air and on the ground. The president’s Special Representative, M. Ergün Olgun, coordinated with the Crisis Technical Committee to arrange for a fire extinguisher aircraft from the Greek Cypriot Administration to arrive at the site and help the efforts of the responders. The first response to the fire was conducted by the Security Forces Command helicopter and was then followed by other teams. Turkey also sent a firefighting helicopter to the region to battle the flames. The authorities are doing everything they can to control the blaze and avoid further damage to the area.
