
Spectacular Festivities Shine at 31st Saint George Days

The 31st St. George Days in Sfântu Gheorghe (Sepsiszentgyörgy), Szeklerland, Romania, kicks off with a cultural week starting on Monday, featuring performances by the Bagossy Brothers Company and the Csík Zenekar during the festival weekend that begins on Friday.
Running from April 23-28, the St. George Days will showcase 150 programs across different venues in the area. The celebration, known as the largest Szekler festivity, will begin on Monday with a literary evening with György Dragomán and Anna Szabó T., followed by the premiere of the play “The Lourcine Street Affair” at the Tamási Áron Theater directed by Árpád Barabás.
Throughout the week, there will be puppet theater shows, studio visits, traditional festive concerts, dance and theater performances, literary events, and art exhibitions. Wednesday will feature a commemorative Shakespeare Memorial Day in honor of Attila Nagy, a Shakespeare scholar and university professor, and an audience meeting with writer Radu Vancu.
The festival weekend, starting on Friday, will offer diverse programs for different age groups at various stages and locations, including performances by the Bagossy Brothers Company, Csík Zenekar, Connect-R, Halott Pénz, Lidia Buble, Moby Dick, Raklap, Sepsi Gospel Band, and Luiza Zan.
On Sunday, the Pro Urbe Award will be presented at the Szekler National Museum during the City Days celebration, honoring four distinguished personalities aged 70 and over in the community.
