Steel makes statement at AK Party FMC meeting
Turkey’s ruling AK Party has expressed gratitude to citizens for their support in Sunday’s elections. AK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated that the citizens’ faith in democracy “has been realized in front of the eyes of the whole world”, with almost 90% of eligible voters turning out for the polls. Çelik also criticised opposition party CHP, which had previously accused officials of election tampering. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his AK Party secured the most votes, but will require a coalition to form a government.
