Strengthening unity and cooperation among Turkic nations: Organization of Turkic States

The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is an intergovernmental organization that aims to promote cooperation and unity among Turkic-speaking countries. Recently, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary General of OTS, discussed the organization’s activities, development, and future plans in an interview with The Astana Times.
Established in 2009, the OTS has made significant strides in strengthening ties among its member states. The organization’s priorities, outlined in the Nakhchivan Agreement, include enhancing mutual trust, maintaining regional peace, and collaborating on various foreign policy issues. Over the years, the OTS has expanded its cooperation to encompass 30 different areas, contributing to economic growth and social development in the region.
Kazakhstan, as a founding member of the OTS, plays a vital role in promoting Turkic Unity. The country has been instrumental in initiating key Turkic cooperation organizations and proposing strategic projects to enhance collaboration among Turkic nations. Kazakhstan’s leadership and strategic initiatives have been essential in the growth and success of the OTS.
Looking ahead, the OTS aims to further deepen economic integration, enhance cultural and educational collaboration, and leverage digital platforms to strengthen cooperation. Environmental sustainability and resilience will also be key focus areas for the organization, with upcoming events such as the COP29 Summit in Baku offering opportunities for significant contributions.
Efforts towards developing a common language for Turkic countries have also seen progress, with initiatives such as the Turkic World Common Alphabet Commission and the advocacy for a Common Turkic Dictionary. These endeavors aim to foster linguistic unity and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Turkic languages.
As the organization continues to evolve and expand its initiatives, the OTS remains committed to promoting unity, cooperation, and prosperity among Turkic-speaking countries. The upcoming events and projects planned by the OTS reflect a strong dedication to advancing the goals and objectives of the organization.
