Stunning Budapest Chain Bridge Shines in Decorative Lighting – Watch the Impressive Videos and Photos
Budapest’s Iconic Chain Bridge Successfully Tests New Decorative Lighting System
The new decorative lighting system of Budapest’s famous Chain Bridge has been tested and deemed successful. Mayor Gergely Karácsony and Budapest’s transport company, BKK, shared videos showcasing the beauty of Hungary’s oldest stone overpass.
The official testing of the decorative lighting took place on June 15th. Experts began the technical handover of the Chain Bridge a month and a half ahead of schedule, allowing pedestrians to cross the bridge on the sidewalks starting from August.
The revamp project of the Chain Bridge included the renewal and modernization of both the street lighting system and the decorative lighting. This resulted in both systems becoming energy-efficient. For instance, the old luminaires were replaced with modern LED lights, and the color of the decorative lighting can be changed. During national holidays, the bridge will shine in red, white, and green to celebrate.
The revamp project started less than two years ago, and the technical handover began weeks before the August 3rd deadline. Until August, the bridge will remain a work zone, and pedestrians can only cross it using the buses commuting between Clark Ádám tér (Buda) and Széchenyi István tér (Pest).
The final traffic order of the Chain Bridge will be decided by Budapest residents at a summit called the Budapesti Lakógyűlés on June 18th. Currently, buses, taxis, motorbikes, bikes, scooters, ambulances, and emergency services are allowed to cross the bridge.
Videos showcasing the new lighting of the Chain Bridge have been shared by BKK and Mayor Gergely Karácsony. These videos provide a glimpse into the stunning transformation of this historic landmark.
The successful implementation of the new decorative lighting system adds a touch of elegance and charm to Budapest’s iconic Chain Bridge, further enhancing its status as a symbol of the city.
