Minister Işıkhan Announces Positive Trends in Unemployment Rates
Minister Işıkhan recently took to his social media account to announce the positive developments in the country’s employment numbers. He highlighted the government’s commitment to the 12th Development Plan and OVP targets, stating that their efforts are paying off.
According to Minister Işıkhan, the employment numbers saw a significant increase of 273 thousand people in May 2024 compared to the previous month, reaching a historical peak of 32 million 920 thousand people. The employment rate also rose by 0.4 points compared to the previous month and 1.6 points compared to the previous year, reaching 50 percent.
The Minister attributed this upward trend to the government’s focused approach on investment, production, employment, and export-oriented growth. He emphasized that their determined steps are yielding positive results, especially in the realm of unemployment data.
In addition, Minister Işıkhan mentioned that the number of unemployed individuals decreased by 27 thousand people, leading to a decrease in the unemployment rate by 0.1 points compared to the previous month and 1.1 points compared to the previous year, now standing at 8.4 percent. The country’s labor force also saw an increase of 245 thousand people compared to the previous month, totaling 35 million 931 thousand people. The labor force participation rate increased by 0.3 points compared to the previous month and 1 point compared to the previous year, reaching 54.5 percent.
Overall, Minister Işıkhan’s announcement is a positive sign for the country’s economy, showcasing improvements in both employment and unemployment rates. The government’s focused efforts on economic growth and job creation seem to be bearing fruit, providing hope for a more prosperous future.
