Success of the Pannónia Scholarship Program
Hungary’s Minister of Culture and Innovation, Balázs Hankó, recently announced the success of the Pannónia Scholarship Program’s first half, which concluded in January. He praised the program for accepting 3,052 students into leading universities worldwide and highlighted its benefits such as increased opportunities for young people to study abroad, higher scholarship amounts, and fully transferable credits.
The program not only includes European universities but also allows for study opportunities in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and China. Hankó emphasized the strength of Hungarian higher education, noting the numerous cooperation agreements in place between universities. The success of the program has also led to increased Hungarian students studying in Spain and vice versa, showcasing the strong ties between the two countries.
Responding to criticisms of the university model, Hankó defended the program, stating that it was designed to benefit Hungarian students, the economy, and the nation as a whole. He also mentioned the upcoming launch of the Universities 2030 program, aiming to have a Hungarian university in the world’s top 100 by 2030.
In addition, a Hungarian university tour will be launched in the Carpathian Basin for students and teachers, with a Hungarian higher education gala set to take place in May. Hungarian universities actively participate in the Erasmus program, welcoming foreign students, and offering scholarships through the Pannónia Scholarship Program to Hungarian students to study at top universities worldwide.
With these initiatives and programs in place, Hungary continues to strengthen its higher education system and provide valuable opportunities for its students both at home and abroad.
