Fire in Northern Cyprus extinguished with cooperation from Southern Cyprus and Turkey

The fire that broke out in Yeşilırmak in Northern Cyprus has been extinguished with the cooperation of Southern Cyprus and the Republic of Turkey, according to President Ersin Tatar. Tatar emphasised that the success of the operation showed the importance of cooperation and thanked the personnel, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dursun Oğuz, and the Forest Department for their efforts.

The fire burned an area of over 50 hectares and caused damage to the lungs, according to initial assessments. The firefighting efforts involved a helicopter and reconnaissance helicopter from Northern Cyprus, a helicopter provided by the General Directorate of Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, and a firefighting plane and helicopter from the Greek Cypriot Administration.

Tatar expressed his satisfaction with the positive results of the coordination between KTBK, GKK, PGM, Civil Defense Organization, Fire Brigade, and Forestry Department in response to the disaster. He also noted that the cooperation with Southern Cyprus demonstrated the importance of working together to address such incidents.

Construction equipment and Forestry Department teams will continue to work on cooling and take safety measures in the field. Tatar conveyed his best wishes to the people of Northern Cyprus and hoped that similar disasters would not occur in the future.
