Summer Savings: Enjoy Up to 20% Off Your Lake Balaton Vacation
The peak season at Lake Balaton may have just passed, but there are still opportunities for travellers to vacation at lower prices. Despite concerns about crowds and lack of availability around 20 August, last-minute searches on various booking platforms have shown that good value accommodations are still accessible.
According to Tamás Fekete, Vice President of the Balaton Tourism Association, accommodations for two people can be found between HUF 15,000 and 20,000 (EUR 38 and 50.78). Some larger properties even offered rates as low as HUF 7,000 (EUR 17.77) per person for a single night this past weekend, attracting cost-conscious travellers planning group or family getaways.
Fekete noted that those opting for affordable accommodations are often more adventurous and willing to bike or walk to reach the lake, prioritizing tranquillity over being directly on the shore. Looking ahead, prices are expected to decrease in the coming weeks due to the availability of well-priced rental properties around Balaton, with around 30,000 accommodation units recently updated through the Kisfaludy program.
The weekend saw one in three travellers choosing Lake Balaton for their vacation, with Siófok being the most popular destination. Other attractive spots included Hajdúszoboszló, Hévíz, Eger, and Szeged. Nearly half of the bookings were for three nights, and 26% of August’s online bookings used the SZÉP card for payment.
With prices expected to drop in the upcoming weeks, now is the perfect time to plan a trip to Lake Balaton for a more affordable getaway. Book your accommodation now and enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of Hungary’s largest lake without breaking the bank.
