Sun Exposure Linked to Increased Cancer Risk in Moles

Former Northern Cyprus Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (TRNCPRCD) President, Op. Dr. Derviş Akbilen, has raised concerns about the risk of cancer associated with moles and emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures.
In an interview, Aesthetic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Op. Dr. Derviş Akbilen highlighted that moles are a common occurrence on the skin, influenced by genetic factors and exposure to the sun. He noted that individuals with a family history of moles and those exposed to sunlight are more likely to develop moles due to increased pigment cells.
Akbilen emphasized that certain factors such as the type of mole, size, genetic predisposition, sun exposure, and recurrent traumas can increase the risk of moles turning into cancer. He advised individuals in high-risk groups to undergo regular examinations every six months to monitor any changes in their moles.
Furthermore, Akbilen mentioned the growing popularity of endoscopic face lift operations as an alternative to traditional face lift procedures. He explained that endoscopic face lifting is a minimally invasive method that provides natural results with smaller incisions.
Akbilen stressed the importance of early detection and treatment of suspicious moles to prevent them from becoming cancerous. He warned against using lasers to remove moles without a proper pathological examination, as this method may not entirely eliminate the risk of cancer.
In addition to discussing the risks associated with moles, Akbilen emphasized the importance of sunscreen use to protect against harmful sun rays that can increase the likelihood of mole transformation into cancer. By adopting proper skincare practices and using sunscreen regularly, individuals can reduce their risk of developing cancerous moles.
Regarding endoscopic face lift operations, Akbilen highlighted the advanced surgical skills required for this procedure and the need for patients to choose experienced and specially trained surgeons for optimal results. He explained that the endoscopic face lifting technique offers natural-looking results with minimal scarring and faster post-operative recovery.
In conclusion, Akbilen emphasized the need for personalized evaluations for each patient considering cosmetic procedures and recommended thorough discussions with surgeons to clarify expectations and ensure successful outcomes. By staying informed about the risks associated with moles and choosing qualified professionals for cosmetic surgeries, individuals can prioritize their health and well-being.
