Sunday By-Elections Scheduled by BRTK
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is gearing up for the “Local Establishment Bodies By-election” scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 30. As per the calendar set by the Supreme Electoral Council, June 27 marks the deadline for the distribution of voter cards, while June 29 is the final day for election propaganda.
Candidates have started throwing their hats in the ring for various positions in the upcoming by-election. In the Lower Dikmen District of Dikmen, Girne district, nominees for the headman position include Mustafa Cumhur, Tahir Sancak, and Levent Efendi. For council of elders membership, Ahmet Ulutan, Cengiz Topel Ak, and Kaan Güçsav have put forward their applications. Additionally, Mustafa has submitted his candidacy for the council of elders in Güzelyurt District, Güneşköy District.
It has been noted that no applications have been received for the remaining vacant council of elders memberships. The excitement is building up as the by-election approaches, with the community eager to see who will emerge victorious in these tightly contested races.
