A new Hungarian cargo airline may be getting ready to start its operations soon. The emerging airline, named Hungary Cargo Airlines, has already launched an official Facebook page to recruit staff for various positions. The first member of its fleet is expected to be the state-owned Airbus A330F cargo plane, currently operated by the Orbán cabinet.
According to reports from Budflyer, a Hungarian aviation news platform, the new airline is already in the process of recruiting maintenance personnel, security managers, HR personnel, operators, and pilots for the Airbus A330 aircraft. Interestingly, the company’s description on Facebook includes Chinese characters, hinting at a possible oriental affiliation.
Hungary Cargo Airlines Ltd was registered in 2021 and is believed to have roots in China, as it was formerly known as Universal Translink Airline Hungary Ltd. The headquarters of the company are located in the Cargo City in Vecsés. The state-owned Airbus A330F has been instrumental in maintaining the air cargo link between China and Hungary, including the transportation of COVID-19 vaccines.
Budapest Airport has been making strides in the cargo sector, with plans to set new records in 2024. The airport’s strategic location, excellent railway and motorway connectivity, and top-notch infrastructure position it as a potential cargo hub in Europe. It has seen significant growth in cargo volume over the past decade and continues to attract new partners and shipments.
Various airlines, both longstanding and new, operate at Budapest Airport, including Turkish Cargo, Qatar Airways, Cargolux, Sichuan Airlines, and Wizz Air.
