Surprising Discovery: A Zoo Found Inside a Car at the Border
Several exotic animals, including kangaroos, alpacas, parrots, flying squirrels, and Patagonian mara, were seized at the Pazarkule Border Gate in Turkey. The animals were found in a car with Greek plates that arrived at the border from Greece. The Thrace Customs and Foreign Trade Regional Directorate Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence Branch teams conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered three kangaroos, three alpacas, and one Patagonian mara in the trunk. Additionally, 12 parrots and 23 flying squirrels, some of which were young, were found inside the car.
The driver of the vehicle was detained by authorities. The captured animals will be handed over to the Nature Conservation and National Parks Department teams for care and rehabilitation. It is illegal to transport such exotic animals without proper permits and documentation, and efforts are being made to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals involved. Authorities are investigating the incident further to determine the source and purpose of the transportation of these animals.
