Kazakhstan’s Optimistic Outlook: A Recent Survey Shows Rising Confidence in Leadership and Development
ASTANA – A recent nationwide public opinion survey commissioned by the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KazISS) reveals a notable sense of optimism among the citizens regarding the country’s current trajectory and leadership. The survey, conducted from March 20 to April 20, engaged 8,000 respondents from various regions, including major cities like Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent.
According to the findings, a significant 60.8% of respondents view the development prospects of Kazakhstan over the next five years as “very positive” or “rather positive.” This sentiment is echoed by a substantial 73.3% of citizens who believe the nation is on the right developmental path.
Among the youth aged 18 to 29, support for government initiatives is particularly strong, with 82% expressing optimism. The survey also highlighted that women are more optimistic than men, reporting positivity at rates of 75.3% and 71.1%, respectively.
A key takeaway from the survey is the overwhelming trust in President Tokayev, standing at a remarkable 76.4% nationwide. Young citizens and women show even higher levels of trust—84.6% and 78.1%, respectively—compared to 74.5% among men. Interestingly, trust levels are similar across urban and rural areas, with 76.8% and 76.1%, respectively.
This prevailing optimism correlates with broader indicators of life satisfaction; 57.3% of respondents indicate they are “completely satisfied” with their lives, while an additional 32.8% report being “rather satisfied.”
In terms of media consumption, respondents show a preference for obtaining information on politics, economics, and public life through online media (30.3%) and social networks (34.7%).
This comprehensive survey illustrates a robust sense of confidence among Kazakhstan’s citizens in their country’s future and leadership, reflecting a broader trend of increasing life satisfaction and engagement in public discourse.
