Suspension: Ahmet Özer Faces Consequences for Actions
Ahmet Özer, a suspect connected to a monthly detention review in Istanbul, has been suspended from his duty. The decision was made by the Istanbul 9th Criminal Judgeship of Peace via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS). In his defense, Özer denied any involvement in activities related to democratic autonomy and stated that he did not align with such ideologies throughout his life. He expressed his disbelief at his name being mentioned in evidence seized at the Diyarbakır high-security penal institution.
Özer argued that the phone conversations mentioned in the evidence were simply ordinary condolence calls, and that it was unjust to interpret isolated sentences out of context and attribute membership to a terrorist organization based on them. He claimed that his words were general expressions of courtesy, specifically referring to motherhood.
Despite Özer’s defense, the judge overseeing the case decided to continue his detention, citing the lack of new developments in his favor and the existence of concrete evidence indicating strong suspicion of his involvement in the alleged crime. The judge emphasized that not all evidence had been collected and the reasons for his arrest had not been eliminated.
The case continues to unfold as further investigations are carried out. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
