He stated, “I explain it with regulations, I explain it with circulars, I explain it with laws, I explain it with maps. It is clear that we do not issue the construction permit, which is not within the scope of duty and authority of my municipality, we do not issue the tourism incentive certificate, and we do not have the authority to audit.”
Furthermore, Mayor Özcan expressed surprise at learning that the fire department had not reported the hotel to the prosecutor’s office prior to the fire. He emphasized that he was not involved in any approvals or inspections related to the hotel and that the responsibility lies with the relevant authorities.
