Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan Reinstates Police Chief After Dismissal
Tanju Özcan, the mayor of Bolu, had a heated exchange with Victory Party Bolu Mayor candidate and council member İlkay Bayrak during a municipal council meeting. After the altercation, Mayor Özcan instructed Police Chief Hakan Yılmaz to remove Bayrak from the hall, but he refused to leave. In response, Mayor Özcan dismissed Police Chief Yılmaz.
However, after the incident, Mayor Özcan met with the Police Chief and asked for forgiveness, stating that an injustice had been unknowingly and unintentionally committed. He admitted that he made a hasty decision and reinstated Yılmaz to his position, acknowledging that he had acted in anger and without fully understanding the situation.
The mayor also appeared remorseful, apologizing to Yılmaz and his family for the incident. He emphasized that the decision to dismiss the police chief was made in haste and not in line with the facts. Subsequently, Yılmaz was reinstated to his role, and Mayor Özcan urged him to continue his duties without any obstacles.
