President Ersin Tatar Returns from Meeting with Greek Leader Nikos Hristodulidis
President Ersin Tatar recently held a meeting with Greek leader Nikos Hristodulidis, and upon his return to the Presidency, he shared his thoughts on the meeting at a press conference. The two leaders discussed 6 titles agreed upon in Geneva, with a focus on cooperation and mutual benefits for both sides.
During the meeting, President Tatar condemned the statements made in Southern Cyprus on the anniversary of EOKA’s establishment. He emphasized the importance of working together towards a final solution and implementing projects that will benefit both Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities.
One of the projects discussed was the establishment of a solar energy system in the intermediate region, funded by the European Union. President Tatar highlighted the benefits of the system for both sides, but also raised concerns about the distribution of electricity produced, calling for a fair distribution that benefits both parties.
In addition to discussing energy projects, President Tatar also addressed the establishment of a Youth Committee and an Environment Committee focused on climate and mine cleanup. He stressed the importance of cooperation between both sides to achieve common goals and improve relations.
President Tatar mentioned the issue of gates and mines in the region, expressing a desire to work towards their resolution through dialogue and collaboration. He proposed a meeting before April 24 to further discuss potential expansions and projects that could benefit both communities.
Overall, President Tatar emphasized the need for constructive and positive dialogue to address common challenges and find solutions that benefit both Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots. He highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation and understanding in working towards a peaceful and prosperous future for all.
