Tatar’s Hope for a Democracy Celebration
President Ersin Tatar recently attended the 4th Ordinary Congress of the Rebirth Party (YDP) where he delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the Turkish Cypriot people’s rights and the country’s achievements despite ongoing embargoes and restrictions.
During his speech, President Tatar congratulated the YDP for their hard work and wished them success in their future endeavors. He also expressed gratitude for the support given by the YDP to the new policy initiatives.
President Tatar emphasized the significance of the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation, noting that it is a milestone for the TRNC as an independent Turkish state in the Eastern Mediterranean. He stressed the importance of promoting and announcing the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people to the world.
Reflecting on past attempts at finding a solution through federal processes like the Annan Plan and Crans Montana, President Tatar acknowledged that a solution based on equality has not been achieved due to the denial of Turkish Cypriot rights.
President Tatar highlighted the support of the motherland Turkey in efforts to promote the recognition of the TRNC on the global stage. He affirmed that the TRNC will continue to develop and strengthen its presence in various platforms, including observer membership in the Organization of Turkic States.
In closing, President Tatar underscored the unity and determination of the Turkish Cypriot people to secure independence, freedom, and honor. He stated that these values are the foundation of their identity and should be cherished as a source of wealth and dignity for future generations.
