Taza Kazakhstan Initiative Joins Together Nearly 6.2 Million People for Environmental Change

The Taza (Clean) Kazakhstan environmental campaign, spearheaded by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has made significant progress since its inception in 2019. Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Yerlan Nyssanbayev revealed at a recent government meeting that nearly 6.2 million people have participated in the initiative, resulting in the collection of 1.1 million tons of waste and the planting of approximately 1.6 million trees.

Throughout the campaign, participants have organized various activities in different regions to clean up public areas, including territories, courtyards, historical and cultural monuments, as well as providing assistance to veterans in maintaining their surroundings. Additionally, efforts have been made to clean up garbage along the banks of rivers and reservoirs, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment in Kazakhstan.

To encourage greater involvement from residents in addressing urban and environmental issues, a service has been developed allowing people to submit proposals through a chat bot called @TazaQazBot. So far, more than 10,000 applications have been received, with nearly 9,700 successfully implemented. Common requests from residents include territorial cleaning, street improvements, waste collection, and road maintenance.

The Taza Kazakhstan campaign continues to make a positive impact on the country’s environment, with the active participation of millions of citizens working towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
