TCG Anadolu will be delivered today

TCG Anadolu, the world’s first armed unmanned aerial vehicle (SİHA) ship and Turkey’s largest military ship, enters the service of the navy.

TCG Anadolu Multi-Purpose Amphibious Assault Ship Project was launched in 2015 in line with the needs of the Naval Forces Command.

Launched in May 2019, the ship began sea acceptance tests in June 2022. The ship will be delivered to the Naval Forces Command by the Presidency of Defense Industries, with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

TCG Anadolu was built under the main contractorship of Sedef Shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul. 131 subcontractors as well as universities and research centers took part in the project, which has a local rate of approximately 70 percent.

There are 12 countries in the world that have ships of this scale. TCG Anadolu will strengthen the strength of the Turkish navy and increase its deterrence.

It will be a base for national SİHAs

TCG Anadolu will be the “first SİHA ship” in the world with SİHAs that will take off and land on it. For this, Bayraktar TB3 SİHA with folding wings is being developed by Baykar. In addition, various studies are underway to enable the combat unmanned aircraft system Bayraktar KIZILELMA, also developed by Baykar, and the HÜRJET Light Attack Aircraft, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries, to land and take off.

TCG Anadolu; It has the capacity to transfer a force of at least 1 battalion size in the Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Seas to the crisis region with its own logistics support, without requiring home base support.

Weapon systems on the ship, war management system, electronic warfare systems, infrared search and tracking system, electro-optical search system, laser warning system, torpedo defense system, radars, communication systems, navigation systems, information distribution systems were developed with domestic and national resources.

The ship can also be used for natural disaster relief missions when necessary. Thanks to its fully equipped hospital and operating room facilities, it will be able to provide medical support in natural disaster relief, humanitarian aid and refugee evacuation operations.

It can carry 94 vehicles with it.

TCG Anadolu has a length of 231 meters and a width of 32 meters. With a maximum full load displacement of 27 thousand 436 tons, the ship can operate at a maximum speed of at least 20.5 knots and an economic speed of 16 knots.

With its economic speed and a cruising range of at least 9 thousand nautical miles at full load, 4 mechanized landing craft, each carrying 1 tank, can enter the water-capable pool inside TCG Anadolu.

The ship can carry a total of 94 vehicles, including 13 tanks, 27 armored amphibious assault vehicles (ZAHA), 6 armored personnel carriers, 33 miscellaneous vehicles, and 15 trailers on vehicle decks.

10 helicopters or 11 SİHAs can be deployed on the flight deck of the ship, and 19 helicopters or 30 SİHAs can be transported in the hangar. The ship will host 1223 personnel. There is also a full-fledged hospital facility and 2 operating theaters on board.

Sheet metal cutting of 3 new national frigates will be made

After the TCG Anadolu delivery ceremony, 3 new MİLGEM frigates will be cut.

In the project, which will be carried out in partnership with STM-TAIS, it is planned that each of the Anadolu, Sedef, and Sefine shipyards will simultaneously construct 1 İSTİF class frigate in 36 months.

İSTİF class frigates, of which all sensors and weapon systems have been developed nationally, will be equipped with national air defense capabilities. In addition, nationalization activities will continue in many areas such as the head cannon, helicopter capture system and various components of the main propulsion system.
