Teacher Turns Village Green with Dozens of Trees!
Selahattin Bulut, a retired teacher from Yayladere Village in Gümüşhane, has devoted his life to planting saplings. At 76 years old, Bulut has been planting saplings since 1978, with his efforts resulting in over 4 thousand trees being planted. Despite the challenges, such as carrying water on his back for kilometers to water the saplings, Bulut remains determined to green the world.
Bulut primarily plants Scots pine saplings, aiming to beautify his surroundings and provide benefits to those around him. His dedication to his cause is evident in the care he gives to each sapling, watering them every ten days to ensure their growth.
The villagers greatly appreciate Bulut’s efforts, with one villager, Yusuf Erdem, acknowledging the mark he has left on the village through his tree-planting activities. Another villager, Muhammet Ali Aydın, sees Bulut as a role model for the youth, thanking him for leaving a beautiful future for the next generation.
Bulut’s message is clear: “Plant yourself a seedling and shine light to your surroundings.” He encourages others to join him in planting saplings and keeping the environment green. With his example, Selahattin Bulut is inspiring his community to make a positive impact on the world around them.
