Teams mobilize to combat forest fires in Izmir and Muğla
A forest fire in the Muratlar Neighborhood of Milas sparked panic among residents as smoke billowed into the sky around 18:00. Quick-thinking witnesses immediately contacted the fire department, prompting a rapid response from authorities.
A total of 6 planes, 8 helicopters, 30 water tenders, 10 water supply vehicles, 4 bulldozers, and 4 ground teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the scene to combat the blaze. The first intervention occurred at 18:13, with ongoing efforts to quell the fire from both the air and land.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring area of Bafa Neighborhood, teams from the Muğla Forestry Regional Directorate also responded to reports of a forest fire. Using a combination of air and ground tactics, the teams are working tirelessly to bring the situation under control.
Fortunately, the fire in the Bergama area that ignited yesterday has been successfully contained. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Izmir Forestry Regional Directorate, which sent out 6 planes, 8 helicopters, 30 water trucks, 10 water supply vehicles, 4 dozers, and 4 ground teams, the blaze was extinguished overnight. Cooling procedures are currently underway to ensure the fire remains under control.
