Teenager Fatally Struck by Elderly Driver
Tragic accidents have once again brought attention to road safety in Turkey. In two separate incidents, a 15-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a car, and two motorcycle drivers were injured in a collision.
The first incident occurred at the Alparslan Türkeş junction of the İzmir – Ankara D300 Highway. The young girl, identified as Aliya Nur Gezer, was attempting to cross the highway when she was struck by a car driven by an 88-year-old individual. Despite being rushed to Kula State Hospital after the accident, the 15-year-old could not be saved.
In a separate incident in Gaziantep, two motorcycle drivers were injured after their vehicles collided in the Cebeler District of Şahinbey district. The moment of the collision was captured on the helmet camera of another motorcyclist who was riding behind them. It is believed that the motorcycles collided while attempting to slow down, resulting in both drivers being thrown from their vehicles and sustaining injuries.
The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for all road users to exercise caution and follow traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies from occurring.
