Tenant’s Rampage in Kağıthane: The House Left in Ruins
A tenant in Kagithane turned into a nightmare for his landlord after leaving his apartment in ruins. The incident took place in the Hamidiye Neighborhood of Kagithane, where a disagreement over rent and renovations escalated into a physical fight.
The landlord, Erdoğan H., had rented his apartment to Aykut K. seven years ago. However, tensions began to rise between the two parties a month ago when they couldn’t reach an agreement on house renovations and a rent increase. The situation worsened when the rent debt was added to the mix, leading Erdoğan H. to ask Aykut K. to leave the apartment. This request resulted in a violent confrontation between the landlord and the tenant, as well as their friends and relatives.
During the altercation, Erdoğan H.’s wife was hit in the head while trying to intervene, prompting a battery report to be filed with the police. The parties were once again taken to the police station to address the ongoing disputes. After the fight, Aykut K. initially refused to leave the apartment but later agreed to vacate the premises.
Upon returning to the apartment after dealing with the police, Erdoğan H. was shocked to find the extent of the damage done by his tenant. The apartment had been ransacked, with furniture and fixtures removed or broken. Erdoğan H. described the heartbreaking scene, stating that light bulbs, sockets, kitchen countertops, walls, and even the shower cabin were damaged, while garbage had been left unattended for a long time.
Speaking about the ordeal, Erdoğan H. expressed his disappointment with the situation, claiming that Aykut K. had been a tenant for seven years without any problems until recently. He explained that issues arose when they couldn’t agree on rent adjustments and house repairs, leading to the violent confrontation.
Erdoğan H. vowed to seek justice through legal channels, stating that he would pursue a lawsuit against Aykut K. for the damages caused to his property. The landlord emphasized the need for responsibility and accountability in such situations, urging tenants to respect their agreements and maintain the properties they rent.
