Terrified Drunk Driver Disregards Stop Warning, Strikes Pedestrians

Police Department Conducts Traffic Inspections in Kadıköy: Drunk Motorcyclist Causes Chaos

The Police Department of Traffic Inspection Branch recently conducted traffic inspections for vehicles in the Kadıköy area. However, one incident stood out as a motorcyclist, identified as Furkan Çakar, attempted to evade the authorities during the inspection on the Bostancı coastal road.

At around 21:00, Çakar, riding a motorcycle with license plate 34 GCY 08, ignored a “stop” warning from the police and tried to escape by recklessly riding his motorcycle through the police teams and pedestrians. Fortunately, a traffic policeman on a motorcycle quickly pursued Çakar and caught him within a short time.

During the subsequent inspections, it was discovered that Çakar had a blood alcohol level of 1.19 promil. As a result, he was faced with multiple fines, including 951 TL for driving a motor vehicle on the pavement, 951 TL for disregarding the police’s “stop” warning, 436 TL for not wearing a helmet, and 4064 TL for driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, Çakar’s license was suspended for six months.

The motorcycle used by Çakar was seized by the police and towed to the trustee’s parking lot.

Legal action is also being taken against Furkan Çakar for his drunken behavior and reckless actions. Following his arrest by the traffic police teams, Çakar was taken to the Göztepe Police Station.

According to Çakar, he had a disabled friend traveling with him at the time of the incident, and he asked the traffic police about his friend’s whereabouts. However, his claim has not been verified.

In a shocking turn of events, while being apprehended, Çakar insulted the DHA reporters who were present and even attempted to attack them.

Amidst the chaos, Çakar, who was clearly not in a sound state of mind, requested water from the traffic police teams. Surprisingly, the police obliged and gave him water.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that drunk driving poses. It also comes just days after the tragic death of a police officer named Alp Efe Bekit, who was fatally injured during a similar incident where a motorcycle failed to comply with a “stop” warning.

Authorities are reminding the public to prioritize road safety and to strictly adhere to traffic regulations. Incidents like these highlight the need for enforcement and education regarding the dangers of drunk driving to protect both drivers and pedestrians alike.
