A Blood-Curdling Attack in Istanbul Leaves Victim in Critical Condition Next to His Wife
A horrifying incident took place on Monday, April 15 at 23.30 in the neighborhood of Sinanpaşa in Istanbul. Cengiz Ş. was sitting in a cafeteria with his wife when a person wearing a hood approached him and fired a shot at his neck with a gun.
The assailant quickly fled the scene, leaving Cengiz Ş. lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Health and police teams arrived at the scene soon after receiving reports from the surrounding area. Cengiz Ş. was severely injured and rushed to the hospital, where he underwent immediate surgery to save his life.
Security cameras in the vicinity captured the chilling moment of the attack as the hooded perpetrator stealthily approached Cengiz Ş. from behind and aimed at his neck. These crucial footage helped accelerate the police’s investigation into the incident.
Following the attack, the Murder Bureau teams of the Istanbul Police Department’s Public Security Branch Directorate sprang into action. After analyzing security camera footage, they tracked the attacker as he changed vehicles and headed towards Kağıthane.
Through extensive surveillance, the authorities identified the attacker as Kadir N., a person with no prior criminal record. The police managed to apprehend Kadir N. in Edirne as he was attempting to flee the country.
Kadir N. is now in custody and undergoing interrogation at the Istanbul Public Security Branch Directorate. As the investigation into the motive behind the attack continues, the safety of the victim and his wife remains a top priority for the authorities.
