TESK President Palandöken’s Year 2023 Assessment – Latest Updates
The Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen Chairman, Bendevi Palandöken, shared a video message discussing the challenges faced by tradesmen in 2023 and their expectations for the new year.
Palandöken expressed that 2023 had been a difficult year for tradesmen and craftsmen due to natural disasters and economic hardships. He emphasized the need for new regulations to support tradesmen in 2024, particularly in the retail sector.
Highlighting the impact of natural disasters on the economy, Palandöken emphasized the need for amendments to the Retail Law to address unfair competition and protect both tradesmen and citizens from exorbitant prices.
Additionally, Palandöken addressed the concerns of over 2 million tradesmen and craftsmen across the country, including the reduction of premium days for Bağ-Kur tradesmen and improvements to social security. He also stressed the need for increased state support for tradesmen who regularly pay their insurance premiums.
Palandöken acknowledged the rising input costs for tradesmen due to inflation and called for regulations on minimum wage, as well as support from public and private banks to provide low-interest and long-term loans to tradesmen.
Furthermore, he raised concerns about the operating expenses of POS devices, commission rates, and payback periods, advocating for a price ceiling on POS commission rates to ensure the profitability of tradesmen.
In conclusion, Palandöken’s message outlined the challenges faced by tradesmen in 2023 and urged for reforms and support in the new year to help tradesmen and craftsmen thrive in the Turkish economy.
