Hungarian Defense Forces Conduct Live-Fire Exercise with H225M Helicopter
In a significant development for the Hungarian helicopter force, the rotary-wing aircraft of the Szolnok helicopter brigade will be conducting a capability maintenance shooting exercise at the Kőrös Hill training and firing range in Bakony, western Hungary. This exercise will mark the first live firing with the newly installed H225M helicopter of the Hungarian Defense Forces, as announced by Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Brobrovniczky, according to a report by Honfredity.hu.
The live firing session with the H225M helicopter represents a milestone in enhancing the operational capability of the Hungarian helicopter force. It also serves to expand the capability to support ground forces and special operations, further emphasizing the importance of the Hungarian Air Force and the application of NATO procedures.
The Kiss József 86th Helicopter Brigade regularly organizes capability maintenance firing exercises to practice helicopter combat procedures, ensure personnel readiness, and enhance the effective use of weapon systems for rapid and precise responses in combat situations. The ongoing training session, which runs from February 17 to 28, includes the participation of H145M light, multi-purpose, and Mi-24 attack helicopters, in addition to the H225M type.
During the exercise, the H225M helicopter crew equipped with the HForce weapon package developed for the Hungarian Air Force will carry out air-to-ground live-fire activities using a 20mm machine gun and MAG58 machine gun. These exercises will include day and night-time target detection and marking supported by night vision goggles, emphasizing the importance of air-to-ground communications and procedures for direct air support.
The Hungarian Defense Forces are dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of aircrew through such exercises, contributing to the overall operational readiness and effectiveness of the Hungarian helicopter force. The successful completion of this live-firing exercise will further strengthen the operational capability and readiness of the Hungarian Defense Forces.
