The 57th Regiment’s Loyalty March on the Gallipoli Peninsula

The Historical Gallipoli Peninsula Kocadere Village Camping Area was the site of a solemn and patriotic event as a cannon fire was heard at dawn to honor the martyrs. Following the serving of soup, morning prayer was held to pay respects to those who fought for their country.
Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak addressed the press and highlighted the nationwide participation in the program. He emphasized the importance of remembering and experiencing the historical significance of events such as the Çanakkale epic, the victory of Malazgirt, and other key moments in Turkish history.
Young people camped in tents to truly immerse themselves in the conditions and struggles of the Gallipoli Wars. Minister Bak stressed the importance of educating the youth about the sacrifices made for the country and the epic battles that took place on these lands. He expressed pride in Turkey’s history and the bravery of those who fought against powerful navies and armies.
The march, led by Minister Bak, culminated in Chunuk Bair, where sound and fog flares were used to help participants better understand the experiences of their ancestors. Some young people even reenacted the war to get a sense of the intensity of the battles. The event concluded with a 5-kilometer walk, with Minister Bak and Çanakkale Historical Area President İsmail Kaşdemir leading the way.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s support for projects that educate young people about Turkey’s history was also highlighted, with plans to continue organizing such events to ensure the next generation understands and appreciates the sacrifices made for their country. The commitment to preserving and sharing Turkey’s rich history remains a top priority for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
