The Dutch authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the 15-year-old mystery case of the brutal murder of a Hungarian prostitute in Amsterdam. With the creation of a life-size hologram of the victim, Bernadett Szabó (Betty), they hoped to jog the memory of someone who might have information that could lead to the identification of the perpetrator.
Their efforts seem to have paid off, as Csaba Dér, known as the butcher of Csantavér and currently serving a life sentence in a Hungarian prison, wrote a detailed 11-page letter to the Dutch authorities, revealing crucial details about the case. In his letter, Dér named the Croatian gangster who he claims was responsible for the murder of Betty.
According to Dér’s lawyer, he took matters into his own hands and executed the Croatian gangster in a local restaurant to protect himself, as he had learned that the man had murdered a woman. Dér had already been convicted for the murder of a Dutch man in the Netherlands in 2018 and a Hungarian drug dealer in Budapest.
In his letter, Dér described the Croatian gangster as a notorious ladykiller who instilled fear in Amsterdam. He was known for his violent and abusive behavior towards women, and it is believed that he brutally murdered Betty after she confronted him about his actions.
Dér, who has a strong stance against femicide and violence towards women, has expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Dutch authorities and donate any reward money to charity. He acknowledges the importance of bringing justice to victims of such heinous crimes and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
