İnhisar Welcomes Its First Female Mayor
Ihnısar, a district located on the banks of the Sakarya River, recently made history by electing its first female mayor. Nihal Arslan, a 49-year-old politician with a background in activism and local government, won the March 31 Local Government General Elections with 42.92 percent of the votes.
Arslan, who served as the Founding President of the AK Party District Women’s Branch for 13 years and was a Member of the Provincial General Assembly, has deep roots in the district. Her grandfather, Mehmet Ali Koyundere, had previously served as headman and mayor, inspiring Arslan to follow in his footsteps.
In her first statement as mayor, Arslan expressed her gratitude to the residents of İnhisar for their trust and support. She pledged to work tirelessly to bring new opportunities and developments to the district, focusing on infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism.
One of Arslan’s key priorities will be to promote İnhisar’s local products, including the famous “camel’s pomegranate,” and attract tourists to explore the district’s natural beauty and historical sites. With plans to establish new facilities for agricultural production and processing, Arslan aims to elevate İnhisar as a hub for quality products and unique experiences.
The district, known for its agricultural lands, Ottoman graves, and natural attractions such as the Harmankaya Canyon Nature Park, holds immense potential for growth and development. Arslan is committed to preserving İnhisar’s heritage while paving the way for a prosperous future.
As the first female mayor of İnhisar, Nihal Arslan’s election marks a significant milestone in the district’s history. With a strong vision and dedication to service, she aims to lead İnhisar towards a bright and sustainable future.
