Turkish Armed Forces Foundation Commemorates Turkish Cypriot Struggle
Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, the Commander of the Republic of Turkey, recently honored the epic struggle of the Turkish Cypriot Turks during a speech at the Donors Medal and Berat Presentation Ceremony. Alongside Bilal Topçu, General Manager of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, Gen. Bayraktaroglu highlighted the historic contributions and sacrifices of the Turkish Cypriot community.
Reflecting on the collaborative efforts with the Turkish Cypriot Türkü and their shared experiences, Bayraktaroglu emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity in upholding peace and security. He praised the Turkish Land Forces for their rich history and global achievements in combating terrorism and ensuring border security.
Furthermore, Bayraktaroglu expressed gratitude for the support and donations that have bolstered the Turkish Armed Forces and strengthened the nation’s defense industry. He noted the Foundation’s role in advancing technological capabilities and promoting peace on an international scale.
Bilal Topçu, General Manager of the Foundation, echoed Bayraktaroglu’s sentiments by underscoring the vital role of Cyprus in advancing the Foundation’s mission. He highlighted the strategic significance of domestic defense industry production and emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the Turkish Armed Forces and fostering technological independence.
Topçu also shared the Foundation’s success in defense industry exports, exceeding $7.1 billion in 2024. He outlined ongoing projects and collaborations in Cyprus, showcasing innovative technologies and driving progress in the national defense sector.
As the Foundation prepares to participate in Teknofest, Topçu is eager to engage with young minds and inspire the next generation of innovators. He expressed gratitude to President Ersin Tatar, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and all participants for their continued support.
