American University of Cyprus Supports Bülent Ecevit Rehabilitation Center with “Make a Wish” Project
The American University of Cyprus has made a generous donation to the Bülent Ecevit Rehabilitation Center as part of the “Make a Wish with KAU Students” Project. This initiative highlights the importance of solidarity and cooperation in making a positive impact on society.
Minister Dinçyürek commended the students and officials of the American University of Cyprus for their thoughtful gesture and encouraged other institutions and non-governmental organizations to follow their example. He emphasized the value of social responsibility projects like this one and urged for their expansion to benefit more individuals in need.
According to Dinçyürek, young people who demonstrate sensitivity and responsibility towards cooperation are poised to become successful contributors to society in the future. He expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the project for their efforts and support.
The “Make a Wish with KAU Students Project” was part of the Community Service Practices course at the American University of Cyprus, Faculty of Education. Students fulfilled the wishes of 60 residents at the Bülent Ecevit Rehabilitation Center by writing them on paper and hanging them on a wish tree.
Led by Dr. Emel Yılmaz, students organized a charity bazaar to raise funds for the project, which culminated in a visit to the Bülent Ecevit Rehabilitation Center. With the proceeds from the bazaar, students were able to fulfill the residents’ wishes for “food and clothing”, bringing joy and support to those in need.
During the visit, Dr. Nil Ergün Eledağ, Chief Physician at Bülent Ecevit Rehabilitation Center, joined the students and faculty members in spreading goodwill and making a positive impact on the community. The success of the project serves as a shining example of how collaboration and compassion can create meaningful change in people’s lives.
