Regaip Kandili, which is observed on the night between the first Thursday and Friday of the month of Rajab, one of the three months of great importance for the Islamic world, is considered the “night of mercy and abundance”.
Our beloved Prophet Hz. Muhammad said the following about the Night of Ragaib in one of his hadiths:
“The prayer made in these five nights will not be rejected. Night of Ragaib, 15th night of Shaban, Friday, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.” [İbn-i Asâkir]
Regâip is an Arabic word and comes from the root “regağa-be”. As a word, it means to want something, to desire it, to be inclined towards it and to make an effort to obtain it. The word “Reğîb” is a noun derived from “reğabe” and means something that is sought after, desired, and demanded. When it comes to Regaip night; It can be understood as meaning “a night full of grace and blessings, a precious and valuable night, and one that should be evaluated very well.” On this night, Almighty Allah showers His blessings.
