
“The Significance of the Turkish Armed Forces” – BRTK

President Ersin Tatar recently met with Bilal Topçu, General Manager of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, and his delegation. In his speech during the meeting, President Tatar emphasized the importance of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the role they play in maintaining peace and security in the region.
President Tatar commended the Foundation for its efforts in resource creation and support for the activities of the Turkish Armed Forces. He expressed his gratitude to the TRNC donors for their contributions to the Foundation.
During the meeting, President Tatar also discussed the upcoming Teknofest, an Aviation, Space, and Technology Festival to be held in the TRNC from May 1-4. He highlighted Turkey’s advancements in technology and the defense industry and expressed pride in the success of the national defense industry.
President Tatar reflected on the historical significance of the Turkish Armed Forces’ intervention in Erenköy in 1964, which he likened to a small Çanakkale War. He expressed his admiration for the bravery and sacrifice of the Turkish Air Force personnel who played a crucial role in preventing a massacre in the region.
President Tatar emphasized the importance of global security in the current geopolitical landscape and underscored the strong ties between Turkey and the TRNC in ensuring the security of Turkish Cypriots. He paid tribute to the veterans and martyrs who fought for the independence and security of Cyprus.
Bilal Topçu, on behalf of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, thanked President Tatar for the warm reception and highlighted the Foundation’s long-standing connection with Cyprus. He mentioned that the Foundation was established with donations from the Turkish nation during the Cyprus Peace Operation and subsequent embargoes.
In conclusion, President Tatar exchanged gifts with the delegation and reaffirmed the strong partnership between the TRNC and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation in safeguarding peace and security in the region.
