The altercation began when police officer S.Ç., who was off-duty at the time, confronted Toydemir while driving his vehicle. S.Ç. attempted to stop Toydemir’s vehicle but resorted to firing his gun when Toydemir did not comply. Tragically, one of the bullets struck Toydemir, leading to his untimely death despite efforts to save him at the hospital.

Today, a funeral service was held for Toydemir at Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque in Levent. Family, friends, and colleagues paid their respects before Toydemir was laid to rest at the Ümraniye Hekimbaşı family cemetery.

Toydemir’s sister, Elçin Gülersoy, expressed her deep grief, stating, “He was not just my brother, but a father figure to me. One of us is now gone.”

Colleague Kazım Giray lamented the loss, saying, “We have lost a remarkable individual, someone who was with us for 40 years. It was a tragedy that should have never happened. Our condolences go out to his family. May he rest in peace.”

Friend Soner Doğan fondly remembered Toydemir as a true Istanbul gentleman, saying, “He was a kind soul who never harmed anyone and dedicated himself to his work. May he be granted eternal peace and prosperity.”
