The TRNC: Turkish Cypriot Existence, Independence, and Freedom
President Ersin Tatar has stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is a symbol of the existence, independence, freedom, and rights of the Turkish Cypriot people. He made these remarks while attending and delivering a speech at the “TRNC Perspective in the Turkey Century” conference in Istanbul.
Tatar emphasized that there are two sovereign peoples and two states in Cyprus and that there are potential opportunities for cooperation between these states. He also urged the Southern Cypriots to engage in joint exploration of natural resources. The President noted that the Republic of Turkey is fully supportive of the TRNC and emphasized the strengthening of the sacred bonds between Turkey and the TRNC.
During the conference, ASAD Platform President Doğanay stated that the TRNC is the most important part of the Turkish century, emphasizing the historical ties between the two nations. President Tatar echoed similar sentiments, stressing that the Cyprus issue is a matter of national importance that requires collective action and solidarity from the Turkish nation.
Tatar highlighted the close relationship between the TRNC and Turkey, stating that Turkey is not an ordinary country for Cyprus. He also emphasized the strategic importance of the TRNC and its increasing significance in regional issues such as the Eastern Mediterranean and the security of Turkey.
