Residents who purchased bungalow houses in Çatalca, Istanbul, for a relaxing weekend getaway were shocked to find their homes missing during their recent visit. It was discovered that the wooden houses, along with their pool installations, had been dismantled and taken away. While rumors spread about the theft of 5 bungalow houses and their pools, the Çatalca District Governorate clarified that these claims were baseless.
The bungalows, part of a project in Çatalca Akalan District, were originally designed and sold as part of a holiday site. After landscaping was completed, residents began using the properties as summer homes on weekends and in their leisure time. However, a dispute between a neighbor named Yahya Kemal Yaman, one of the owners of the bungalows, and the contractor who built the site over a debt issue led to accusations of theft.
It was alleged that Yahya Kemal Yaman, owing money to the contractor, took matters into his own hands one night and stole 5 bungalows and their pools from the site. When homeowners returned a few days later, they were shocked to find only rubble remaining where their houses once stood.
Enis Onat, a resident, expressed his frustration, claiming that not only were the bungalows stolen, but even the pools were removed. He explained, “When we purchased these homes, having a door number gave us a sense of security. It was official. They used cranes and trucks to steal everything. It’s a worrying situation.”
Fortunately, the Çatalca District Governorate intervened, stating that the contractor had removed the materials due to non-payment. Police units are investigating the issue, and it has been confirmed that the allegations were unfounded. The contractor dismantled the houses in question and removed them from the area, citing payment issues.
The residents can now rest assured that their bungalow homes were not stolen, but rather removed by the contractor. The situation will hopefully be resolved swiftly, ensuring the safety and security of all homeowners in the area.
