“The Voice of Struggle: Society’s Conscience” – BRTK
Democratic Party General Secretary and Kyrenia Deputy Serhat Akpınar recently celebrated the 61st anniversary of the establishment of Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation (BRTK). In a statement, Akpınar praised BRTK for its significant role in the history of the Turkish Cypriot people, highlighting its contribution to the fight for freedom and existence.
Akpınar acknowledged the challenging beginnings of Bayrak Radio, which started broadcasting in 1963 under the title of the ‘Voice of the Turkish Cypriot Mujahideen’. Despite the obstacles, the radio station managed to establish itself as a crucial voice for the Turkish Cypriot community, reflecting their values and aspirations.
Furthermore, Akpınar emphasized that BRTK is not just a broadcasting platform but also a cultural institution that actively works to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Turkish Cypriots. He noted the success of BRTK in both national and international spheres, crediting the organization for effectively advocating the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people to the global community.
