Police arrest two suspects for watch theft
The Provincial Police Department in Turkey has caught two suspects who stole a watch by posing as potential buyers on an online marketplace. The thieves called the owner of the watch, which was up for sale on the internet, claiming that they needed to check its originality before purchasing it. The lines used to make these calls were found to be registered in the name of foreign nationals.
Following technical and physical examinations, police identified the suspects as BE and CT and took them into custody. The suspects were then transferred to court, where they were arrested by the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace.
During questioning, it was also discovered that suspect CT had previously stolen two luxury watches from another person in the Körfez district, using the same method.
The Provincial Police Department in Turkey is urging the public to exercise caution when selling high value items online, and to take necessary precautions to prevent incidents like this from happening.
