Three Injured in Balcony Collapse During Championship Celebration in Kars
Celebrations turned into tragedy in the city of Kars as Galatasaray fans gathered to celebrate their team’s championship win in the 2023-2024 season. The joyous atmosphere quickly took a somber turn when a balcony collapsed, injuring three fans.
The incident occurred after Galatasaray secured a 3-1 victory against TÜMOSAN Konyaspor in the Trendyol Super League. Fans had gathered on the balcony of a cafe on Atatürk Street to celebrate the win, but the balcony gave way under the weight of the crowd.
Three fans, identified as Ferhat K, Serhat K, and Fatih E, were injured as they fell from a height due to the collapse. Emergency services were quickly alerted, and police, health, and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene. The injured fans were promptly taken to hospitals in the city for treatment.
Kars Governor Ziya Polat also visited the scene of the incident and the hospitals where the injured fans were being treated. He inspected the building where the collapse occurred and spoke with officials to gather information about the incident. Governor Polat later visited the injured fans at Harakani State Hospital and Kafkas University Health Research and Application Hospital, offering his support and well wishes for their recovery.
What should have been a night of joy and celebration for football fans in Kars has now turned into a moment of concern and reflection.
