Three Turkish Airlines planes land simultaneously at Istanbul Airport
In a groundbreaking development at Istanbul Airport, ‘Simultaneous Triple Independent Track Operations’ were successfully implemented for the first time in Europe. Today, three Turkish Airlines (THY) aircraft landed at the airport simultaneously, marking a historic moment in aviation.
Under the watchful eye of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, three THY planes were granted departure permission to participate in this operation. The aircraft, including a Boeing 737-800 on the Stockholm-Istanbul route, an Airbus A321 from Antalya to Istanbul, and an Airbus A330 flying in from Paris, all landed at Istanbul Airport simultaneously. This precision operation, which took place at 16.30, set a new record for the airport as the first time three aircraft landed simultaneously in Europe.
Radar images captured the historic moment as the three planes touched down on the runway. As part of the airport’s expansion plans, operator IGA announced that four independent runway operations will commence in the near future, further enhancing the efficiency and capacity of Istanbul Airport.
