Throwing party at father’s official residence in Japan leads to firing.
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Shotaro has dismissed his son, Kishida Shotaro, from his position as executive secretary following reports of a party at the official residence of the prime minister. The news was covered by national magazine Shukan Bunshun, which released images of Kishida having fun with relatives and foreign guests in the residence, including a person lying on the red carpet-covered stairs. The prime minister stated that his son’s behavior was inappropriate, given his secretarial title and public responsibility. Kishida previously appointed his son to the post of secretary in October 2021, citing the idea of “placing the right person in the right place”. NHK reported that Yamamoto Takayoshi, who held the same position before Kishida Shotaro, will be appointed as secretary in the new period.
