Tight Race: Trump and Harris Gap Narrows to 1 Point in US Poll
The latest New York Times/Sienna College poll has revealed estimates of the current polling odds between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. In the survey conducted with 1,142 adults nationwide between July 22-24, it was found that 48 percent of those who said they might vote for Trump in the upcoming presidential election on November 5 were only 1 point ahead, with Harris coming in at 47 percent.
This recent poll indicates a significant shift in the race, as a previous poll conducted after the live election debate between Joe Biden and Trump on June 27 showed Biden falling 6 points behind Trump. Political observers are considering Harris’ performance as a success at this stage, as she closed the gap on Trump in less than a week. Biden had nominated and supported Harris as his replacement after announcing his withdrawal from the race on July 19.
The upcoming presidential election is shaping up to be a closely contested race, with both Trump and Harris gaining support among voters. The polls will continue to be a crucial indicator of public opinion leading up to the November election day.
